This will be up on the 9412 website soon. Thanks to Ms. M for a little help with editing:
--------------
Born into a household where classic rock and blues were the standard, Ash
learnt to love music and was frequently found listening to music on, at
first, a toy record deck, then a series of Walkman-type devices. Then
arrived a small ghetto blaster with (joy of joys!) two tape decks. Thus
began a collection of mix tapes that still survive to this day.
This continued through his school years, where a long bus ride to school
gave him time to listen to music and, via a public library's pop and
classic rock section, expand his listening tastes. Into his diet of
Beatles, Elton John, and Eric Clapton were introduced Pink Floyd, The Who,
Yes, Queen, Genesis, and via a misfiled tape, The Grateful Dead. Whilst
all the bands fascinated and entertained Ash, it was the Dead that
captured his attention, for their long, free-form jamming sessions and the
way the band members operated as one living musical creature.
FM Sucks, and in the UK it's even worse, with little or no actual proper
Classic Rock programming, so it was to the internet Ash turned, and on the
digital doorstep of 9412 he found himself. As a listener he was hooked,
and the latent desire to throw down songs for an audience awakened. He
soon became 9412's first DJ from across the pond, broadcasting live from
London, England. In addition to the standard 9412 library, Ash brings his
own collection of Brit-Rock songs, including Slade, Status Quo, and
Madness, as well as his vast collection of Grateful Dead albums and
concerts. In addition to his regular time slot, he also stands in
wherever possible for other DJs.
He loves classic rock, loves DJ'ing, and loves being part of the 9412
family.
